Sharlene P. Johnson, Ph.D.

Sharlene P. Johnson, Ph.D., L.C.P. brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Tucker Psychiatric Clinic. Dr. Johnson earned her B.S. degree from Virginia Tech in 1975. She continued her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned her M.S. degree in 1978. Dr. Johnson interned at Rutgers Medical School from 1979-1980. She returned to VCU to complete her requirements for a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She earned that in 1981. Dr. Johnson was licensed by the Virginia State Board of Medicine in 1982 to practice clinical psychology. She was also licensed by the Board of Psychology in 1982. Dr. Johnson’s work experience includes: Director of Community Development at Memorial Guidance Clinic, Associate Director of the Crisis unit at Psychiatric Institute of Richmond and clinical psychologist and managing partner for 34 years at Horizons, Inc., a multi-disciplinary outpatient mental health practice. Dr. Johnson specializes in seeing children and adolescents. She sees some adults upon referral. Dr. Johnson joined Tucker Psychiatric Clinic in 2020 to continue to provide continued care for her patients.
